About fencing with smaller holes: what we did is a double fence.  5&#039; of the larger mesh, and then on the bottom 2&#039; or so (including 8&quot; sunken underground by digging a trench) we attached ratwire (also called mesh hardware cloth) to the fence to keep out the smaller and burrowing critters.  So far, so good...</description>
