Garden Log 2-22-06

Well I don’t know about you but I think that I’m about ready to pull the trigger and get a few seeds in the ground… indoors of course. It’s still winter outside and the forecast includes continued cold weather and the possibility of snow, but it’s getting close enough to spring to start a few seeds.

I just have a few vegetables in mind and they’re all plants that can withstand some cold conditions and that take a long time to go from seedling to transplant size.

Here’s the list for extra early sowings of vegetables that I’ll be planting indoors now and growing from seed under grow lights:

  • Onions
  • Leeks
  • Celery
  • Globe Artichokes
  • Sea Kale

I know it’s a short list, but it’s still pretty early for seed starting here in Central Pennsylvania, but the list will grow considerably larger in just another couple of weeks.
